Final Report
I think that the main goal behind the student internship is to get involved in the practical part and access to career life. Other goals are to learn skills that students didn’t learn during their university years. Within my study Public Relation I am interested in media and communication theories. It was a great opportunity for me to do a three month internship in marketing department in Masdar City in Abu Dhabi. I choose Masdar because it’s a great work placement, it focus in power and energy for future and I know I would get a great experience while I intern there.
At the beginning of the internship I had some difficulties, since I joined a new environment and I deals with different kinds of peoples, they are not in my age and they know each other. So I felt shy and lonely in the first week, but by the time I knew each one there and I learn how to do my duties and my work. While I am trained in Masdar I got valued experience such as organized events from A to Z, welcomed delegations from many companies, editing some documents, answer some phones calls and emails and doing communication plans for any events. I did many tasks in Masadr, the three achievements I accomplished while I’m working there were Employee Engagement Day, National Day Celebration and Monthly Treat Buy. In Employee Engagement Day I attended meetings with my team to prepare for this event, we made plan together and contacted with many creative companies to provide us new and fun ideas to make this day fun and remember day for Masdar’s employees. During prepared for UAE National Celebrations, I wrote action plan, provided my team new ideas and they applied , for example we change the routine and made a shape of UAE by Areesh, inside the Areesh there are live cooking, Emirate dances and others activities. Finally, Monthly Treat Buy is a program in Masdar, each month the internal marketing team bring some buss food or ice cream buss to Masdar and its free for all employees there. In December 2014 my team give opportunity to bring something for our employees. I contacted with many food companies and I received about four quotations then a choose the lowest price quotation which from Ybala Karak, I send email to Ybala Karak manager to confirm the date of coming. My supervisor ask me to design poster and write text message to invite employees to Ybala Karak , I already design two posters and she like one of them then she send it email to all employees in Masdar. Really I interested it as a useful experience for me and it pleasure time when your supervisor thank you for your effort. I
start thinking to break routine and bring something different and I provided my team with new ideas, one of them is bring flowers shop and each employer will have one flower and he must choose one of his colleagues to give him a flower. The one who will collect the large number of flowers will be the most social personality in Masdar and we will send her name by email as a winner. They like it and they will apply it in 2015.
In conclusion, my internship was a valued experience. I have find out what strength and weakness. Now I can work on my communication skills and present myself more confidently.
